# FGS Advisory > FGS Advisory is a technology consultancy for accounting and advisory firms. We set IT strategy, select and implement practice management software, optimise the app stack a firm already owns, migrate ledgers, and run firm-wide technology change. Operating since 2011, 2,000+ firms served. Offices in Sydney and London; clients across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Europe, and the Middle East and Africa. **Tagline:** Focus. Growth. Strategy. **ABN:** 68 661 668 033 **Founded:** 2011 **Websites:** https://fgsadvisory.com.au (Australia) · https://fgsadvisory.co.uk (United Kingdom) **LinkedIn:** https://www.linkedin.com/company/fgs-advisory ## What FGS Advisory does FGS Advisory works with the partners, directors and practice managers of accounting firms on the technology side of running a practice. The firm is deliberately vendor-independent: it does not resell software, so its platform recommendations carry no commission. Six services: 1. **Advisory Board (fractional CIO)** — https://fgsadvisory.com.au/advisory-board A director-level technology voice at the partner table. Sets the IT strategy for the firm, challenges thinking, and stays accountable for the direction over time rather than for any single project. 2. **Implementation** — https://fgsadvisory.com.au/implementation Practice management and workflow software implementation, configured to how the firm actually works, with the team brought along rather than trained at. 3. **Optimisation** — https://fgsadvisory.com.au/optimisation Getting the value out of software a firm is already paying for: finding what is underused, and tuning process around the existing app stack. 4. **Data Migration** — https://fgsadvisory.com.au/data-migration Ledger conversions and firm-wide data moves, including mergers and demergers. Reconciled, evidenced, and handled as an independent third party between the outgoing and incoming platforms. 5. **AI Consulting** — https://fgsadvisory.com.au/ai-consulting An AI readiness assessment, a firm-wide position on AI, and guardrails a practice can defend to its clients and its regulator. 6. **Project Management** — https://fgsadvisory.com.au/project-management Independent oversight of complex change programs: one accountable owner across migrations, platform changes and firm-wide rollouts. ## Platforms FGS Advisory implements, optimises and advises on the platforms accounting firms actually run. It is not a reseller and takes no vendor commission. Partnerships: Xero, Xero Practice Manager (XPM), FYI (including FYI Elite and FYI Docs), ATOMate, Apxium, FeeSynergy, BGL, NowInfinity, FuseSign, Cimplico (including Cimplico Sync). Working knowledge: Karbon, Ignition, ATO SmartDocs, Change GPS, Active (Business Fitness). Common questions FGS answers about these platforms: which practice management system suits a given firm (XPM vs FYI vs Karbon), how to migrate a practice to cloud software without losing ledger history, how to set up Ignition for proposals and engagement workflow, and how to get value from a document management platform the firm has already bought. ## Who it is for Accounting and advisory firms — typically firms large enough to have a partner group and a practice manager, and a technology stack that has grown past what one person can hold in their head. Common triggers: a merger or demerger, a practice management platform that is not delivering, a stalled or failed implementation, a partner group that cannot agree on an AI position, or a firm paying for software nobody uses. ## Key pages - Home: https://fgsadvisory.com.au/ - Services overview: https://fgsadvisory.com.au/services - Our approach: https://fgsadvisory.com.au/approach - Software solutions and app stack: https://fgsadvisory.com.au/solutions - About and leadership: https://fgsadvisory.com.au/about - Careers: https://fgsadvisory.com.au/careers - Insights (articles): https://fgsadvisory.com.au/insights - Authors: https://fgsadvisory.com.au/authors - Contact: https://fgsadvisory.com.au/contact - Privacy policy and terms: https://fgsadvisory.com.au/legal ## Articles - Why practice management implementations fail — https://fgsadvisory.com.au/why-practice-management-implementations-fail Implementations fail on communication, ownership and process, in that order. The platform is rarely the cause. - How to review your accounting firm's technology stack — https://fgsadvisory.com.au/accounting-firm-technology-stack-review Four questions: what you pay for and who opens it, where work stops moving, what the system of record is, and what breaks if one person leaves. - Xero Partner Hub: what changes, what does not, and what to do first — https://fgsadvisory.com.au/xero-partner-hub-changes Xero is consolidating Xero HQ, Xero Practice Manager and Xero Tax into Partner Hub, with automatic migration for Australian practices from September 2026. No data migration or planned downtime; the risk is familiarity. Covers the known limitations (bulk group address changes removed, partial-name client search, missing client-list columns, one Master Administrator per practice), the new Tax Manager beta, the BGL-built Xero Workpapers add-on, the JAX AI assistant and its policy implications, a pre-move action list and a first-week checklist. Requires a name and email when reached from the insights index. ## Leadership **Daniel Richardson** — Managing Director.
